Louis Panormo 1827 19th Century Top Spruce
Back and Sides Brazilian Rosewood
Fingerboard Ebony
Width at nut 50 mm
Scale length 63.5 cm
A nice example from England's favoured maker of the nineteenth century. Panormo was Sor's recommendation from England. His instruments, which are in the "Spanish style" are similar in shape and interior construction to the earlier instruments of the Pages workshop in Cadiz. It is similarly fan strutted and has a good range of tonal colour and volume. The sides are deep giving this guitar a very good bass response for its size. The top, unusually, has no cracks and the Brazilian back and sides are lovely. The head is a later replacement with lovely machine heads by Rance.
